Sustainable fuel provider Neste has signed a letter of intent with Ahti Pool to include its European Union-exposed fleet into Ahti’s FuelEU Maritime compliance pool. This takes Ahti Pool’s total vessels under management to almost 250. Each ship in the Ahti Pool shares the compliance burden with other pool members, and collectively benefits from the pool’s economies of scale. Ahti Pool claims to be the only fully neutral FuelEU Maritime solution, not shackled to any compliance option. Sander Wilgenhof, head of shipping at Neste, commented, “FuelEU Maritime is the first regulation affecting the well to wake GHG intensity of our vessels and creates a new level of compliance complexity for us. Working with Ahti will be a cost-effective way for Neste’s fleet to fulfil its FuelEU Maritime obligations, while it also enables a possibility to create an additional revenue stream from selling positive compliance balance created with the ultra-low-carbon vessels in our fleet.” googletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display('div-gpt-ad-1_95_0_1_2'); }); TagsFinland
