Supporting Decarbonisation and Vessel Efficiency KCC Corporation joined RightShip’s Zero Harm Innovation Partners Program to contribute to the maritime industry’s decarbonisation efforts by advancing technologies that enhance vessel energy efficiency and long-term hull performance in alignment with International Maritime Organization (IMO) regulations. As regulatory frameworks such as EEXI and CII place increasing emphasis on emissions reduction and operational efficiency, hull performance has become an important factor in supporting compliance and reducing environmental impact. Addressing Hull Performance and Fouling Challenges As part of the Program, KCC is showcasing MetaCruise NS, an antifouling coating developed to address operational challenges such as hull fouling, performance degradation over extended service periods, and efficiency losses during idle time. MetaCruise NS integrates a foul-release silicone polymer, an amphiphilic surface structure, and nano-capsule-based biocide release control technology. These combined mechanisms are designed to reduce frictional resistance, stabilise antifouling performance, and support consistent vessel speed over time. By maintaining hull efficiency, the solution contributes to reduced fuel consumption and lower carbon emissions.
