Image Credit: UKMTO Iranian forces have detained a ship at anchor off the coast of Fujairah and taken it to Iranian waters, according to a British government agency monitoring maritime security in the Middle East . The incident happened about 38 nautical miles north-east of Fujairah at 5:45 AM UTC on Thursday , the UK Maritime Trade Operations agency said in a social media post. "The CSO has reported that the vessel has been taken by unauthorised personnel whilst at anchor, and is now bound for Iranian territorial waters," the agency said. "UKMTO continues to investigate." Large numbers of ships are at anchor off Fujairah waiting for the resumption of traffic through the Strait of Hormuz . If these ships are now at risk of detention by Iranian forces, many are likely to shift further away from the region. Under normal circumstances Fujairah is the world's third-largest bunkering location .
