Christen Sveaas’ Viking Supply Ships has won a term contract for one of its anchor-handling tug supply units. Brokers report the ice-classed AHTS Brage Viking fixed to ExxonMobil for work offshore Canada. The contract set to start later this month will see the 2012-built vessel support the Stena Drillmax drillship for about 90 days. Rates were not disclosed for this fixture, but industry sources noted Exxon has 10 weekly extension options attached to the deal. Stenungsund-based Viking Supply Ships currently has six AHTS vessels in its fleet, and five Swedish state-owned icebreakers under operational management.
