Pirates hijack second tanker in two days Mike Schuler Total Views: 56 February 9, 2011 EU NAVFOR has reported that at approximately 1000Z on 9 February, the VLCC M/V Irene SL was pirated approximately 350 nautical miles South East of Muscat in the North Arabian Sea. The Greek flagged and owned vessel was on its way to Suez from Fujairah when it was attacked. She has a crew of 25 (7 Greek, 1 Georgian and 17 Filipinos). According to the AFP, the vessel was carriering a load of 1.9 million barrels of oil. There is no communication with the vessel and no information regarding the condition of the crew. Yesterday, pirates hijacked a an Italian owned and operated tanker M/V Savina Caylyn off Yemen.
