German exports to Britain drop 7% since 2016, IW says in World Economy News 20/06/2026 German exports to Britain have fallen by approximately 7% since 2016, according to data from the German Economic Institute (IW), highlighting the economic impact of Brexit on trade between the two nations. The decline stands in contrast to Germany’s export growth to other European Union member states, which increased by 41% during the same period from 2016 to 2025, IW researchers said in an analysis prepared for news agencies. Before Britain’s 2016 referendum on EU membership, trade between Germany and Britain had been growing. German exports to Britain rose by nearly 38% between 2006 and 2015, surpassing the roughly 20% increase in exports to other EU member states during that timeframe. IW researchers said Brexit has proven economically damaging for both countries. The institute stated it would be in Germany’s interest if Britain reversed its decision or rejoined the European single market. Source: Investing.com 2026-06-20 hellenicshippingnews... tweet Share
