Speaking ahead of Posidonia shipping week in Athens (1-5 June), Dominguez told Reuters that no action can be taken until there is a more definitive agreement between the parties and stronger guarantees for crews’ safety. The IMO has been working to establish a safe maritime corridor and has held discussions involving Iranian representatives in Oman, but Dominguez said the situation remains too unpredictable, with reports that the strait is open sometimes followed hours later by reports that it is closed again.
