Mitsui E&S Co., Ltd. reported strong financial results for the fiscal year ended 31 March 2026, supported by growth across its core marine propulsion and logistics systems businesses. The Japanese engineering group achieved its third consecutive year of revenue and profit growth, driven by a large project backlog, expanding demand for dual-fuel marine engines and improved profitability in its container crane operations. Operating income climbed to ¥37.6 billion, compared with ¥23.1 billion in the previous fiscal year, while net sales increased to ¥353.2 billion from ¥315.1 billion. Ordinary income rose sharply to ¥44.9 billion. The company said profitability improved significantly due to higher sales volumes and ongoing cost reduction initiatives, particularly in its Marine Propulsion Systems and Logistics Systems segments. Operating profit margin reached a record-high 10.7%. Orders decline despite strong demand New orders totalled ¥315.8 billion, down from ¥421.7 billion a year earlier. Mitsui E&S attributed the decline mainly to the exceptionally high volume of bulk marine engine orders secured during the previous fiscal year. Despite the year-on-year decline, the company said demand for marine engines remained strong, particularly for dual-fuel engines, amid tightening environmental regulations across global shipping markets. The Marine Propulsion Systems segment delivered the strongest profit improvement, with operating income increasing by ¥7 billion year-on-year to ¥14.5 billion. Revenue in the segment rose to ¥149.7 billion. Mitsui E&S highlighted growing momentum for dual-fuel engine technologies, stating that cumulative orders for environmentally friendly dual-fuel engines reached 124 units.
