Dutch floater expert SBM Offshore and French-based engineering company Technip Energies have created a floating offshore wind joint venture. The joint venture, named EkWiL, will be a floating wind pure play and will use the expertise of the two companies to create integrated floating solutions for the offshore wind market. The 50/50 JV will operate as a fully integrated team and capacity to develop Technip Energies’ semi-submersible floating offshore wind foundation solution and the Float4Wind tension leg platform. According to the companies, it will cover a large spectrum of the floating wind market and bring them to commercial deployment. “We aim to become a recognized leading contractor in developing floating offshore wind infrastructures.
