New York-listed offshore driller Valaris has secured multiple fresh deals and contract extensions for its jackup rig fleet. The Anton Dibowitz-led company has won a 26-well plug and abandonment contract in the UK North Sea for the 1982-built Valaris 92. The $75m contract with an undisclosed operator should start in the first quarter of 2025 after the rig completes its work for Harbour Energy and last for two years. Also in the UK North Sea, Eni contracted the 2011-built Valaris Norway for two-well work from February next year in a deal worth $39m, while Anasuria Hibiscus signed up for the 2000-built Valaris 248 to execute one well for about $14.2m in May. In Trinidad, Shell booked the 2001-built Valaris 249 for an eight-well campaign that is expected to last about a year. The contract is worth $66m and should start in May 2026. Meanwhile, North Oil Company exercised a $26m one-year priced option offshore Qatar for the 2015-built Valaris 110, starting in October 2024, in direct continuation of the rig’s current programme. In Angola, one more well worth $8.5m was added to Valaris 144 backlog in advance of its previously disclosed 13-well contract with the same operator, while TAQA, on behalf of the Porthos CCS project in the Netherlands, exercised a one-well option for the 2019-built Valaris 123 at $152,500 per day. Since its last fleet report in April, Valaris has been awarded new contracts and contract extensions worth about $715m, with the contract backlog increasing to approximately $4.3bn.
