Image Credit: U-Ming Taiwan -based shipping firm U-Ming Marine has held a naming ceremony for its first LNG carrier, Diamond Gas Jade , at Samsung Heavy Industries ’ Geoje shipyard in South Korea . The 174,000 m3 vessel was built by Samsung Heavy Industries and is equipped with a dual-fuel propulsion engine and energy-saving technologies, the firm said in an email statement on Wednesday . U-Ming said the vessel marks the company’s official entry into the LNG transportation sector and forms part of its diversification strategy alongside its push toward green shipping and net-zero goals. Following delivery in August 2026 , the LNG carrier will begin long-term transportation operations supporting global energy logistics. The company said it is also continuing its fleet expansion programme after recently approving orders for four Capesize and four Ultramax bulk carriers. U-Ming currently operates a fleet of 84 vessels across bulk carriers, tankers, LNG carriers and offshore wind support ships.
