V.O. Chidambaranar Port Authority has issued a global tender for the upgrade of Berth No. 7 at the Port of Tuticorin on India’s east coast, as reported by DynaLiners. The project will be developed under a design, build, finance, operate and transfer (DBFOT) concession model and aims to transform the berth into a new container terminal. According to the tender details, the terminal is planned to have an annual capacity of 420,000 TEU, a draught of 14.2 metres and the ability to handle container vessels of up to 12,000 TEU capacity. The total investment for the development is estimated at approximately USD 540 million, while the concession period has been set at 30 years. The project is expected to strengthen Tuticorin’s container handling capabilities and support future cargo growth on India’s east coast.
