Image Credit: LDA Maritime firm LD Armateurs launched a wind-assisted dual-fuel methanol RoRo vessel at Wuchang Shipyard on June 6 . The Spirit of Mobile will be chartered to Airbus , LD Armateurs said in a statement on its website on Tuesday . Spirit of Mobile is the sister ship of Spirit of Toulouse , the first vessel in the fleet. Both ships are chartered to Airbus and are designed to reduce emissions through a combination of wind-assisted propulsion and methanol fuel. The vessel will be equipped with six 35 m Norsepower rotor sails. Following the launch, the vessel will undergo testing and commissioning ahead of entering service. LDA added that Spirit of Toulouse is also scheduled to be fitted with its rotor sails soon. Wind propulsion systems such as rotor sails harness wind energy to supplement engine power, thereby reducing overall bunker fuel consumption.
