Greek owner C3is has struck a deal to acquire a handysize bulk carrier from Vafias dry arm Brave Maritime. The Nasdaq-listed Harry Vafias-backed spin-off of Imperial Petroleum is paying $16.9m for the 2012 Japanese-built Eco Spitfire, in a deal approved by the company’s independent directors. The 33,664 dwt unit is currently trading under a time charter, scheduled to expire at the beginning of May 2024. C3is was founded last year as a bulker pure-play, only to shortly thereafter expand into tankers. The company listed on Nasdaq last June and recently pulled off a reverse stock split to maintain its stock trading in the US. Following the Eco Spitfire buy, C3is will have three handy bulkers in its fleet accompanied by one aframax tanker. googletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display('div-gpt-ad-1_95_0_1_2'); }); TagsGreece
