Updated CINS guidelines: carriage of cocoa butter in containers in Marine Insurance P&I Club News 12/06/2026 The Cargo Incident Network System (CINS) has released updated guidance for the carriage of cocoa butter in freight containers, aimed at reducing the risk of heat damage, leakage and related operational incidents. Cocoa butter is highly temperature sensitive and is often shipped through hot climate zones. If it softens or melts during transport, packaging may fail, causing leakage and damage to cargo, the container and potentially the vessel. Developed in collaboration with the International Group of P&I Clubs and the TT Club, the revised publication replaces the 2018 version and reflects updated industry practice and current understanding of temperature conditions inside containers. It is intended to support safer carriage and help prevent heat-related damage.
