Maritime digital optimisation firm ZeroNorth is changing leadership as it moves into its next phase of growth, appointing Soren Andersen as chief executive. Andersen will take over from founder CEO Soren Meyer, who is stepping down after leading the Danish company from start-up to one of shipping’s most widely used digital platforms. ZeroNorth was originally spun off from Maersk Tankers in 2020 has grown rapidly, with its optimisation tools now used across around 6,000 vessels. The company says its platform generates more than 3.3m voyage routes each year, analysing millions of data points in real time. In 2025 alone, ZeroNorth estimates its tools helped customers cut CO₂ emissions by around 2m tonnes. The board said the leadership change reflects a shift in focus as ZeroNorth looks to scale further and deliver profitable growth. Andersen joins from Unimed Maritime Solutions and StormGeo, where he served as chief executive and led both businesses through scale-up phases. At StormGeo, a maritime software and services group, he oversaw a period of profitable growth and expansion, while working closely with shipowners on fleet management and fuel and CO₂ reduction programmes. ZeroNorth chair Christian Ingerslev said Andersen’s background in building customer-focused maritime technology companies made him well suited to lead the business forward, while thanking Meyer for turning an early-stage idea into a profitable operation with global reach. Andersen said ZeroNorth’s digital-first setup and in-house development capabilities put it in a strong position to support shipping through regulatory and technological change, particularly around efficiency, AI and emissions compliance.
