India’s largest private oil and gas player Cairn Oil & Gas has entered into a strategic alliance with TechnipFMC to accelerate the delivery of integrated subsea infrastructure for future deepwater projects in India. The collaboration will leverage TechnipFMC’s integrated engineering, procurement, construction, and installation (iEPCI) model. This alliance will rapidly advance Cairn’s deepwater exploration ambitions by using TechnipFMC’s extensive expertise and technologies. The agreement also incorporates the use of an integrated front-end engineering and design (iFEED) model which optimises project performance using TechnipFMC’s subsea production systems and subsea umbilicals, risers, and flowlines (SURF) work scopes. Cairn currently contributes around 25% of the nation’s domestic crude oil production and has revealed plans to double this figure. The company has a 4,500 sq km offshore deepwater block in the Krishna Godavari basin on the east coast. The block already has four gas discoveries, with almost half of it covered with 3D seismic.
