Greek owner Tsakos Energy Navigation (TEN) has set out to expand its tanker fleet with five additional newbuilds. The New York-listed firm, which earlier this year booked a 154,400 dwt shuttle tanker at Samsung Heavy Industries in South Korea, has revealed “firm discussions” with a Far Eastern yard for the construction of five LR1 vessels. No further details have been divulged except that the first unit is targeted for delivery in the second quarter of 2027, with the remaining four newbuilds expected throughout 2028. The latest move will bring TEN’s newbuilding programme to 12 ships that, in addition to LRs, includes three shuttle tankers, two suezmax vessels and two MR product tankers. googletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display('div-gpt-ad-1_95_0_1_2'); }); TagsGreece
