India’s Great Eastern Shipping is moving to offload older tanker tonnage as it continues to reshape its fleet. The Mumbai-listed owner said it has agreed deals to sell two MR product tankers, the 2007-built 48,000 dwt Jag Prakash and the 2003-built 46,000 dwt Jag Panhki. Financial details have not been disclosed. The sales follow a string of recent fleet moves, with the company adding newer vessels while clearing out ageing units. Great Eastern said its current fleet stands at 40 vessels, including 26 tankers and 14 bulk carriers, with a total capacity of about 3.2m dwt. Earlier this month, the company contracted to buy a 49,420 dwt MR tanker built in 2014. It also recently picked up the 2013-built MR2 Jag Pranesh for around $30m. Alongside its tanker activity, Great Eastern has agreed to acquire a secondhand kamsarmax bulk carrier as it balances exposure across segments.
