Global container freight benchmarks softened in the latest readings, but the underlying trade-lane picture remained sharply divided. Transpacific rates continued to strengthen, particularly in the NYSHEX Freight Index (NYFI), while Asia-Europe extended its decline. At the same time, the Shanghai Containerized Freight Index (SCFI) was virtually unchanged, the China Containerized Freight Index (CCFI) increased, and both the Ningbo Containerized Freight Index (NCFI) and Freightos Baltic Index (FBX) moved lower. Chinese freight indexes remain mixed The SCFI was almost unchanged at 3,686.62 points, compared with 3,687.83 in the previous reading, representing a marginal decline of around 0.03%. The broader CCFI moved higher, increasing 1.1% to 1,917.68 points from 1,897.15. Ningbo moved lower for another week. The NCFI declined 1.6% to 2,494.75 points from 2,535.27 previously. The three Chinese benchmarks therefore continue to provide a mixed composite picture, with CCFI strengthening while SCFI remained broadly flat and NCFI declined. NYFI extends Transpacific gains The latest NYFI readings provided a clearer picture at trade-lane level, with both major Asia-US routes recording further increases. Asia-US West Coast rose 4.82% to 7,417.32, extending the increase recorded in the previous reading. Asia-US East Coast climbed 5.75% to 9,692.72. Asia-North Europe continued to move in the opposite direction, falling 4.13% to 3,597.33. The Transatlantic market was mixed. Westbound rates declined 8.23% to 2,493.90, reversing part of the previous week’s sharp increase, while eastbound rates rose 7.53% to 1,104.48. Drewry WCI declines as Europe remains under pressure Drewry’s World Container Index (WCI) decreased 1% to US$4,468 per 40-foot container, with the decline reflecting continued weakness on Asia-Europe. Shanghai-Los Angeles increased 2% to US$7,838 per 40-foot container, while Shanghai-New York remained stable at US$10,373. Asia-Europe again moved lower. Shangh
