Precious Shipping is looking to offload more vintage tonnage as fleet renewal push at the Thai dry bulk player presses ahead. “We hope to sell a few more of our older, smaller handy sizes, as well as a few non-eco engine supramaxes, during the second half of this year,” the Khalid Hashim-led listed owner said in its earnings report, revealing also a hike in second-quarter profit at $14.36m, versus $8.21m the same time last year. Fleet overhaul at Precious Shipping kicked off with three older ships disposed of in the first half of the year, while six younger handies were snapped up between February and July. The first ship picked up was the 2018-built Interlink Amenity, which has already been fixed to Germany’s Oldendorff Carriers between 11 and 13 months. This was followed by five 39,000 dwt ships from Japan’s Nisshin Shipping, all built in 2015. In May, an order for four 63,500 dwt ultramaxes at Taizhou Sanfu Ship Engineering came to light in a deal worth about $133.5m. The newbuilds are scheduled for delivery between March 2026 and January 2027. Precious currently boasts a fleet of 45 bulkers on a fully-delivered basis, with an aggregate capacity of about 2m dwt.
