The Hellenic Chamber of Shipping and the Hellenic Ports Association (ELIME) signed a memorandum of cooperation on 22 July 2026. The agreement aims to strengthen ties between Greece’s shipping community and its ports. It will also support joint initiatives in innovation, competitiveness and sustainable development. George Alexandratos, President of the Hellenic Chamber of Shipping, and Panagiotis G. Anastasopoulos, President of ELIME, signed the memorandum on behalf of the two organisations. Cooperation to support shipping and port development The two organisations plan to work together on initiatives that create new opportunities for Greek shipping and ports. The partnership will focus on the close relationship between vessels and ports, recognising that the development of one supports the progress of the other. “It is up to all of us to transform this cooperation into meaningful work with tangible results,” said George Alexandratos, President of the Hellenic Chamber of Shipping. Alexandratos said the two organisations would work closely with the Greek state to support the country’s maritime sector, economy and society. “The signing of the memorandum marks the beginning of a strategic partnership that strengthens the connection between Greek ports and the country’s shipping community,” said Panagiotis G. Anastasopoulos, President of the Hellenic Ports Association. Anastasopoulos added that joint actions would promote innovation, competitiveness and sustainable growth across Greece’s port and shipping sectors.
