MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company will update its Emergency Fuel Surcharge (EFS) on several European short-sea trade lanes, with the revised charges taking effect from 10 August 2026 based on the bill of lading date. The revised surcharge applies to cargo moving between Northern Europe, including the UK and ScanBaltic region, and the North East Mediterranean, as well as intra-Europe, intra-Greece, Turkey and the Black Sea. The announcement replaces the customer advisory issued on 8 June 2026. For dry cargo, the updated surcharge ranges from US$26 to US$62 per TEU, depending on the trade lane. Reefer cargo will be subject to charges ranging from US$39 to US$92 per TEU. The highest surcharge will apply to shipments moving between Greece, Turkey and the Black Sea, where the EFS will be set at US$62 per TEU for dry containers and US$92 per TEU for reefers. MSC said all other pricing elements applicable to the relevant trade lanes will remain unchanged. The revised Emergency Fuel Surcharge will remain in effect until further notice.
