Nasdaq-listed Greek tanker owner Performance Shipping has agreed to sell its oldest vessel as it continues to reshape its fleet. The 2010-built aframax P Aliki has been picked up by Trafigura Maritime Logistics in a deal worth $42.65m. The 105,300 dwt tanker is expected to change hands by the end of the third quarter of 2026, once its $30,000-per-day charter with Pakistan National Shipping Corporation wraps up. Part of the proceeds will go toward repaying about $12.8m tied to a loan with Alpha Bank, with the balance boosting liquidity. Chief executive Andreas Michalopoulos said the move forms part of a broader renewal push, noting the company has been selling older ships while bringing in newer, more efficient tonnage. He added the average fleet age has already dropped sharply and is set to fall further as newbuilds arrive. The deal follows a similar move in February, when Performance agreed to sell the 2009-built Aframax P Sophia for $35.65m, booking an estimated $8m gain. Meanwhile, the owner has been adding forward tonnage. Last month it signed contracts in China for two 158,000 dwt suezmax tankers at Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding, priced at $81.5m each, with delivery lined up for 2028 and 2029. The Athens-based company said that with cash expected to climb to roughly $175m following recent deals and financing moves, Performance is positioning itself with a younger fleet and stronger balance sheet as it leans further into the crude segment. googletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display('div-gpt-ad-1_95_0_1_2'); }); TagsGreece
