HD Korea Shipbuilding Wins 2 VLGC Orders Worth 360.7 Billion Won in Shipbuilding News 09/06/2026 HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering (009540) has won orders for two very large gas carriers (VLGCs) worth 360.7 billion won. HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering, the intermediate shipbuilding holding company of HD Hyundai (267250), said Wednesday that it had signed a construction contract for two VLGCs with a European shipping company. The contract is valued at 360.7 billion won, and the vessels will be built at HD Hyundai Heavy Industries (329180) and delivered to the customer in the second half of 2029. With this deal, HD Korea Shipbuilding has accumulated orders for a total of 125 vessels worth $14.41 billion (about 22.3441 trillion won) to date. This represents 61.8% of its annual order target of $23.31 billion (about 36.1444 trillion won). By vessel type, the orders comprise 16 liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers, 28 container ships, 38 liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), ammonia and liquefied carbon dioxide carriers, seven crude oil carriers, 33 petrochemical product carriers (PC ships), two pure car and truck carriers (PCTC), and one icebreaker.
