Two Greek names have entered the newcastlemax segment with a raft of big bulkers changing hands in recent days. Late last week, Splash revealed that Korean cape player Polaris had sold four 2020-2021 Chinese-built newcastlemaxes. Now, sales registers reveal that Thenamaris’ 22-ship-strong bulker arm will balloon with these four ships, the largest bulk carriers the Nikolas Martinos-led firms bought to date, each ship costing in the region of $65m.
