BMP for Maritime Security (MS) - 2025 The new BMP, consolidating and replacing all previously published BMP documents Loss Prevention Loss Prevention Published: April 03, 2025 Contact author Download article pdf The Club would like to bring to the attention of Members, that Industry Associations BIMCO, ICS, IMCA, INTERCARGO, INTERTANKO, and OCIMF, supported by over forty other maritime stakeholders, have released a consolidated and enhanced publication Best Management Practices (BMP) for Maritime Security (MS) .  Alongside the release of the new BMP, is the Maritime Industry Security Threat Overview (MISTO) that has been developed by BIMCO, ICS, IMCA, INTERCARGO, and INTERTANKO.   Best Management Practices (BMP) Maritime Security, consolidates and replaces all previously published BMP documents, BMP5, the Global BMP, and BMP West Africa into a single comprehensive publication. Existing versions of BMP should be removed from the companies and ships libraries and management systems. This consolidated Best Management Practice (BMP) “ is designed to support a structured approach to threat and risk assessment in the maritime environment ” and “ by following the BMP, both companies and seafarers can minimise the risk of maritime security incidents, ensuring better protection against emerging threats and improving overall safety ” The Club recommend that access to BMP Maritime Security is available on all member’s vessels and that the officers and crew are familiar with the contents.
