Cyprus-based bulker player Lemissoler Navigation has ordered up to eight methanol dual-fuel ultramaxes at CSSC-affiliated Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding in Guangzhou. The deal, which is China shipbuilding’s first in this segment, covers four firm 65,000 dwt units estimated to cost more than $40m each, with options for four additional vessels. Philippos Philis-led Lemissoler first showcased the methanol-fuelled ultramax developed in partnership with Shanghai Merchant Ship Design & Research Institute (SDARI) and ABS in December last year. Founded in 1996 in Limassol, the company lists a fleet of 12 eco supramax and ultramax bulkers built between 2015 and 2020. The latest order is its first since 2017.
