On Friday, the UK imposed sanctions on 100 additional entities, including 70 tankers, in its latest crackdown on the Russia-linked shadow fleet of tankers. The move followed Moscow’s recent drone and missile strikes on Ukraine, as well as a violation of Polish airspace. With this action, the UK has now blacklisted nearly 500 tankers, up from just over 100 at the start of the year, having already sanctioned 423 vessels. By comparison, the EU currently sanctions on 444 tankers, while the US has designated just over 200 tankers linked to Russia’s shadow fleet. The UK’s foreign secretary, Yvette Cooper said: “The UK will not stand idly by as Putin continues his barbaric invasion of Ukraine.” googletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display('div-gpt-ad-1_95_0_1_2'); }); TagsRussia United Kingdom
