Brazil-focused driller Ventura Offshore has won an extension of a contract for one of its drillships. The company won a 135-day extension for its 2011-built DS Carolina drillship, extending operations until September 2026. The extension will add approximately $29m to Ventura’s backlog. As a result of this extension, the mobilisation window for the rig’s subsequent contract for deployment to the Sepia-Atapu field has been postponed to January 2027. Except for the postponement of this mobilisation window, no other adjustments were negotiated for the Sepia-Atapu contract. This DS Carolina contract extension, together with the SSV Victoria extension announced on April 2, results in a total additional backlog of $495m for the company. Last week, the company also announced an additional backlog of $145m for the managed rig, Atlantic Zonda, that entitles Ventura Offshore to operating fees. “This extension further strengthens our backlog and reflects the continued demand for our assets offshore Brazil,” said Guilherme Coelho, CEO of Ventura Offshore.
