The European School Competition, which invited children across Europe to imagine the ship of the future, culminated this week in a special award ceremony during the informal meeting of EU maritime affairs ministers in Cyprus. The top four artworks came from children from Greece (pictured), Poland, Cyprus and Malta. Evdoxia, a primary school student, said her drawing, pictured above, was inspired by Noah’s Ark. “I wanted it to resemble a floating ecological refuge. I would like wind, sunlight, and the power of waves to be used for energy,” she said. The competition was organised by European Shipowners as part of the shipowner association’s 60th anniversary celebrations. “The European School Competition provided an opportunity to bring young people closer to our sector.
