COSCO Shipping Lines has introduced an Emergency Bunker Surcharge (EBS) on cargo moving to or via US East Coast, Gulf Coast and West Coast ports through both Trans-Atlantic Trade (TAT) and Trans-Pacific Trade (TPT) services. The surcharge will apply to cargo moving under tariff rates or service contracts, unless otherwise specified, and will be charged in addition to all other applicable surcharges. For refrigerated containers, the EBS has been set at USD 224 per 20-foot container and USD 448 per 40-foot and 45-foot containers. For all other container types, the surcharge will amount to USD 172 per 20-foot container and USD 344 per 40-foot and 45-foot containers. The measure applies to shipments originating from all countries and destined for, or routed via, US East Coast, Gulf Coast and West Coast ports.
