news Dry bulk Markets & trade Splash247
German-based Reederei F. Laeisz has placed its bets on the dry bulk sector with an investment in Greek owner Diana Shipping. The Nikolaus Schües-led shipping group has snapped up about 6.3m shares in New York-listed Diana, equal to a 5% stake. The move on the Athens-based Diana, revealed in a filing to the US Securities and Exchange Commission, and the bulkers segment in particular, comes after F. Laeisz sold out of Norway’s Gram Car Carriers in a deal with liner giant Mediterranean Shipping Co (MSC) earlier this year. F. Laeisz operates more than 40 ships in five different segments, including car carriers, boxships and gas carriers, and according to S&P sources, has not been in the bulkers business in nearly 10 years. Semiramis Paliou-led Diana Shipping counts 38 bulkers in its fleet and two methanol dual fuel kamsarmax newbuilds delivering in 2027 and 2028. The company is also involved in a joint venture that is building offshore wind commissioning service operation vessels (CSOVs) at Norwegian shipbuilder Vard, with first delivery expected in the third quarter of 2025. Although Q3 numbers have yet to be released, the company’s year-to-date result stands at a net loss of $0.7m and $3.6m attributed to common stockholders. A cash dividend was declared on its common stock of $0.075 per share for the second quarter of 2024. googletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display('div-gpt-ad-1_95_0_1_2'); }); TagsGermany Greece
