China’s Wison New Energies has signed the detailed feasibility study for a new-build floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) facility offshore Suriname. The unit is set to be deployed at the Petronas-operated Block 52. The Malaysian giant has also been the block’s 100% owner since ExxonMobil opted to abandon its share in November last year. The FLNG unit is set to be located some 120 km off Suriname’s coast, and will tap into the Sloanea gas field, at a water depth of around 450 m. According to Wison New Energies, the unit will be able to receive the feed gas from the subsea production system, process the stream to produce LNG and condensate product for both domestic use and export to the international market.
