FacebookTwitterEmailLinkedin The Federal Bureau for the Investigation of Maritime Accidents (FEBIMA) has issued an investigation report into an incident where crew members sustained serious burns during a thermal oil draining operation on board a ship due to hot oil splashing. The incident On October 5th, 2025, the ship was en route from Abu Qir in Egypt to Malta where it had been scheduled for planned maintenance and surveys. Since January of the same year the ship had experienced some difficulties with the thermal oil system on board. This system was used for maintaining heat for fuel, hydraulics and dredging operations at low pressure. The temperature of the system on board the ship was to be kept at about 180°C.
