Loss Prevention 17 Apr, 2025 Best Management Practices Maritime Security (BMP MS) Marcus Winchester Loss Prevention Officer The International Group of P&I Clubs, in partnership with other shipping industry associations, together with the support of governments and military organisations have published brand new consolidated maritime security guidance in the form of Best Management Practices (BMP) Maritime Security (BMP MS). Download PDF This publication consolidates all the regional guidance publications in the BMP series into one comprehensive publication. These publications have been a key cornerstone of providing security advice and guidance to assist companies and seafarers in thoroughly assessing the risks associated with voyages through high-risk areas and to aid in the development of means to mitigate any potential threats to safety. BMP Maritime Security replaces all the existing versions of the BMP. This includes BMP5, Global BMP and BMP West Africa. This latest BMP complements piracy guidance in the latest International Maritime Organisation (IMO) Resolutions and Circulars on the IMO website . The IMB Piracy Reporting Centre (IMB PRC) website also contains a wide number of resources such as Advice to Masters, a Live Piracy Map/Report and Piracy Prone Areas, all of which can be found here Piracy Reporting Centre - Advice To Masters . Further maritime security information can be found from Maritime Global Security . Best Management Practice Maritime Security (BMP MS) can be read here .
