Greece Inflation Rate Rise the Most in 3 Years in World Economy News 15/04/2026 The annual inflation rate in Greece accelerated to 3.9% in March 2026 from 2.7% in the previous month. This marked the highest reading since March 2023, driven largely by higher prices in housing utilities (5.7% vs 2.6%), transportation (8.1% vs 1%), and health (1.4% vs 0.5%). At the same time, costs for alcoholic beverages and tobacco rose to 0.9% after stagnating, while deflation eased for information and communication (-2.3% vs. -2.4%) and miscellaneous goods and services (-0.4% vs. -0.6%). On the other hand, prices decreased for food and non-alcoholic beverages (4.5% vs 5.2%), clothing and footwear (2.1% vs 10.1%), and restaurants and hotels (6.1% vs 6.5%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices jumped by 2.6% in March, following a 0.1% increase in the preceding period. Meanwhile, the EU-harmonised annual inflation rate picked up to 3.4%, the highest reading since July 2025, and up from 3.1% previously.
