Greek tanker newcomer Venergy Maritime is weighing its first move into the aframax/LR2 segment, with shipbuilding sources linking the company to a letter of intent at China’s New Times Shipbuilding. Market players say the Vyron Vasileiadis-led owner is close to securing two 115,000 dwt scrubber-fitted tankers for delivery in 2029, with an option for two more. While Venergy has yet to comment on the reported talks, Greek brokers place the price at around $69m per ship. Founded in 2021, Venergy has so far focused on the MR product tanker market. The company operates three modern MRs and is working through a four-ship newbuilding programme at South Korea’s K Shipbuilding, with deliveries stretching to 2027. If finalised, the New Times deal would mark Venergy’s first step into larger tonnage and place the newcomer among a growing group of Greek owners booking similar vessels in China and South Korea, including Cape Shipping, Stealth Maritime and JHI Steamship. googletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display('div-gpt-ad-1_95_0_1_2'); }); TagsGreece
