A kamsarmax bulk carrier of US-based Foremost Group has suffered damage after crashing into a bridge in Argentina. The Liberian-flagged 85,000 dwt En May reportedly suffered a rudder failure and hit sideways against one of the piles of the Bartolomé Miter Bridge of the Zárate Brazo Largo Complex, temporarily blocking navigation on the Paraná River. The incident took place on Sunday afternoon local time, and regional authorities dispatched tugs to move the 2017-built ship to safety and restore traffic on South America’s grain superhighway. Images released show the En May with its hull breached but reported as not in danger of sinking. There were no injuries to the crew and the road traffic on the bridge was not disrupted. The 228-m-long vessel was empty at the time of the crash and was heading upstream towards the Santa Fe port of San Lorenzo to pick up its next cargo.
