Norwegian offshore shipowner and operator Østensjø Rederi has revealed various new contract awards for its fleet and the sale of a twenty-two-year-old multipurpose support vessel. The Kristian Helland Vea-led company has bagged contracts worth more than NOK2bn ($191.5m) for the subsea vessels Edda Fauna, Edda Sphynx and Edda Savanah, and flotel Edda Fides. Contract length varies between the vessels but secures utilisation through 2024 and into 2026, Østensjø Rederi said, adding that the deals “reflect an offshore energy market in improvement with strong demand and increasing rates”. Meanwhile, the Haugesund-based privately owned company has offloaded the 2002-built MPSV Edda Fjord (pictured) and already delivered it to its new owner. Details about the deal were not disclosed, except that the ship will continue to operate outside of the North Sea.
