Lars-Christian Svensen is stepping down as chief executive of John Fredriksen-backed dry bulk player Golden Ocean Group. Svensen, who stepped up in June last year to become interim head before taking a permanent position in January, has decided to seek new opportunities, Golden Ocean said in a filing Wednesday, adding that he would be available until September. Before taking over as CEO from Ulrik Andersen, Svensen was Golden Ocean’s chief commercial officer from December 2020. He also previously served as senior vice president in Norway and president of US trading activities in Seattle for Western Bulk. Before that, Svensen was a downstream analyst for Petredec and a tanker broker for Cmarine Services in Singapore. “I would like to thank the board and my colleagues for wonderful years. I am proud to have contributed to the company’s success and development during my tenure. I wish the company all the best, and I am sure the prosperity will continue going forward,” Svensen said. Chief of finance, Peder Simonsen, will step in as interim CEO at the Nasdaq- and Oslo-listed company, which ended the first quarter with a profit of $65.4m and a fleet of 94 vessels, including three newbuildings. googletag.cmd.push(function() { googletag.display('div-gpt-ad-1_95_0_1_2'); }); TagsNorway
