Greek owner Evangelos Marinakis has moved to add more tanker newbuildings through a fresh deal for very large crude carriers in South Korea. Shipbuilding sources in Greece report Marinakis-controlled Capital has penned a letter of intent with Hanwha Ocean for two firm vessels, with deliveries expected in 2027. The deal includes an option for an additional newbuild, with each unit costing about $125m, according to Xclusiv Shipbrokers. Capital also has six LNG dual-fuel VLCCs booked for construction at Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Co (DSIC) with deliveries stretching through 2028.
