Monaco-headquartered product carrier major Scorpio Tankers has secured five-year charters for two of its LR2 product carriers at a rate of $29,000 per day. The New York-listed owner said the 2015-built, 110,000 dwt STI Rose and STI Alexis have been fixed to an undisclosed charterer, with the contract starting in the first quarter of 2026. In early September 2025, the STI Rose was booked by Swiss-based AB Commodities. However, sources told Splash that the deal failed to materialise due to “Scorpio’s unwillingness to deliver the vessels in accordance with the governing charter parties”. Scorpio, led by Emanuele Lauro, controls a fleet of 93 product tankers, made up of 37 LR2s, 42 MRs and 14 handymax units, with an average age of 9.8 years.
