GT Green Technologies, in collaboration with Carisbrooke Shipping and the University of Bristol, is ready to install one of its AirWings on a ship in the UK following significant funding from the government. A 20 m high AirWing will be installed on a Carisbrooke general cargo vessel, which will ply a set route across the Atlantic between the UK and Canada. “We’ve been discussing various technologies with GT Green for the last two years and are excited to be prototyping their AirWing concept in 2024,” said Captain Simon Merritt, senior fleet manager at Carisbrooke Shipping. The University of Bristol contributed expertise in composite structures testing and modelling to the development of the patent-pending technology.
