CLARKSONS PLATOU HELLAS – SnP WEEKLY BULLETIN in Weekly Shipbuilding Reports 05/06/2026 What a week! One of the biggest and busiest Posidonia events ever. With the majority of shipping sectors enjoying healthy market conditions, the global maritime community gathered in Athens for a week of meetings, networking, celebrations, and strategic discussions. The overall sentiment was positive, with market participants expressing optimism that supportive fundamentals will continue to underpin freight markets in the months ahead. At the same time, there remains a degree of caution regarding ongoing geopolitical developments in the Middle East and their potential implications for global trade flows, energy markets, and overall economic stability. S&P demand and activity remain robust, with the shortage of modern eco-design bulkers and tankers still very evident. One might have expected more owners to take advantage of current asset values and bring additional tonnage to the market; however, many continue to prefer retaining exposure to what they believe could be a prolonged period of healthy earnings. Looking ahead, the industry appears to be entering the second half of the year with a constructive outlook. While macroeconomic and geopolitical risks cannot be ignored, the prevailing mood at Posidonia suggested that most market participants remain confident in the resilience of shipping markets and the opportunities that lie ahead. Dry Cargo In the Kamsarmax sector, Chinese Buyers have emerged behind the DIMITRIS A (ABT 83K DWT, 2008, TSUNEISHI ZHOUSHAN), which was sold for USD 14.8m. On the Supramax front, the AE MARS (ABT 53K DWT, 2006, SINOPACIFIC DAYANG) was sold via auction at xs USD 9m to Chinese interests. Tanker Although no new tanker sales can be reported, several negotiations are understood to be ongoing this week.
