India’s largest private ports and logistics company, Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (APSEZ), has announced it will expand its European presence and offshore capabilities by committing $1.36bn in capital spending through fiscal year 2031. This will be achieved through a partnership between Adani Port’s marine platform, Astro Offshore, and the US engineering firm Oceaneering International. The agreement marks APSEZ’s expansion into ultra-deepwater operations and international markets. “By combining Astro Offshore’s expanding high-specification fleet with Oceaneering’s deepwater engineering and ROV expertise, we are enhancing our capabilities in complex offshore operations while expanding into Europe,” said Ashwani Gupta, CEO of APSEZ. This development aligns with the company’s strategy to build one of the world’s largest integrated marine platforms spanning logistics, offshore support, underwater engineering, and deepwater infrastructure services. As part of its long-term roadmap, the company targets a 200-vessel fleet, marine revenue of ₹6,000 crore ($627.4m), and planned capex of ₹13,000 crore ($1.36 bn) by fiscal year 2031. The move is also supported by the addition of the 2021-built MPSV Energy Savannah, soon to be renamed to Astro Atlas, as the company’s first ultra-deepwater vessel.
