CLARKSONS PLATOU HELLAS – SnP WEEKLY BULLETIN in Weekly Shipbuilding Reports 16/01/2026 After the significant S&P activity observed last week, especially driven by the VLCC segment, the wet market remains highly active, with substantial movement observed across all segments. On the dry side, although there has been some softening on rates, S&P demand remains present and acquisitions continue to emerge, with buyers adopting a cautious but opportunistic approach. Dry Cargo This week, dry bulk activity was concentrated in the larger segments, where c/o Berge Bulk sold their scrubber-fitted Newcastlemax BERGE MOLDOVEANU (ABT 211K DWT, 2020, BOHAI, SCRUBBER), for a price in the region of USD 74 m to Korean interests. Furthermore, we are hearing of two Capesize units being sold this week, the FRONTIER KOTOBUKI (174K DWT, 2011, NAMURA) which was inviting offers yesterday, we understand that has been committed for USD 31 m, and another vintage unit which is built in Japan 2005 at a price of USD 20.5 m. In the geared segment, the Ultramax OCEAN JASMIN (ABT 63K DWT, 2019, COSCO HI ZHOUSHAN) has been sold in the region of USD 28.5 m basis TC attached until max June 2026. Unconfirmed rumors suggest two Ultramax transactions being concluded, including a 2012 Japanese built unit at a price in the low USD 19 m and a 2020 Chinese built vessel, said to be sold for xs USD 30 m. On the smaller segment, c/o Straits Orient Lines sold their Handysize TBC PRAISE (ABT 36K DWT, 2012, HYUNDAI MIPO) for USD 14.4 m, while on the Chinese built front, we understand that a 37K DWT, 2012 unit is being negotiated in the levels of low/mid USD 11 m. Tanker The tanker sector has remained busy, VLCC transactions continued to unfold, while demand remains notably strong throughout different sizes, reflecting sustained buyer interest and confident sentiment. On the LR segment, c/o Scorpio Tankers have sold their scrubber-fitted LR2 STI KINGSWAY (ABT 109K DWT, 2015, SUNGDONG, SCRUBBER) at USD 57.5 m to undisclosed buyers. Meanwhile, on the MRs, the two zinc-coated eco-MR tankers MARITIME TRANQUILITY & MARITIME COMITY (ABT 49K DWT, 2020, GSI NANSHA) have been reported sold to Greek interests for USD 39 m each.
