Image Credit: UKMTO A cargo vessel was hit by an unknown projectile and caught fire in the Strait of Hormuz today, with two casualties reported, according to a British government agency monitoring maritime security in the region. The incident was reported at 06:30 UTC today, the UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) said in a social media update today. “The Company Security Officer of a cargo vessel reports being struck by an unknown projectile,” UKMTO said. “The vessel is on fire and adrift.” “All crew have been evacuated, with 2 casualties reported.” UKMTO advised vessels operating in the area to exercise caution and report any suspicious activity. Commenting on the incident, Martin Kelly , head of advisory at EOS Risk Group , said in a social media post that an “Antigua & Barbuda Bulk Carrier [was] abandoned following Iranian attack in Strait of Hormuz.” Several ships have come under attack in the Strait of Hormuz since the Iran war began in late February.
