Image Credit: Sallaum Lines Shipping firm Sallaum Lines has taken delivery of two LNG-fuelled pure car and truck carriers (PCTCs). The MV Ocean Express and MV Ocean Navigator have joined the firm’s fleet, it said in a LinkedIn post on Friday . The vessel was constructed at China Merchants Jinling Shipyard (Jiangsu) and is equipped with dual-fuel LNG engines capable of operating on LNG and conventional marine fuels. “As sister vessels to MV Ocean Legacy , both ships feature the same advanced technical specifications, propulsion system, and cargo capacity, ensuring operational consistency, efficiency, and reliability across our growing LNG-powered fleet,” it said. While LNG is becoming a more widely available alternative marine fuel than options such as methanol or ammonia, these vessels may still need to transition to lower-carbon fuels such as bio-LNG as emissions rules tighten. Bio-LNG can be used as a drop-in fuel in LNG-fuelled ships.
