Daihatsu Infinearth approves Accelleron’s service-friendly MXP turbocharger for its auxiliary engine in International Shipping News 18/02/2026 Accelleron’s MXP300 turbocharger for auxiliary marine engines has been qualified for installation on the popular 6DE18 diesel generator built by Japanese engine company Daihatsu Infinearth. Following qualification for Daihatsu Infinearth’s dual fuel engine 6DE20DF in 2024, – the first approval by a Japanese engine builder – the latest acceptance is expected to significantly increase adoption of MXP turbochargers globally. Service-friendly concept The MXP was specifically designed for auxiliary marine engines. Its hard-wearing, simple design is based on a self-service, condition-based maintenance model, making it easy for crew to maintain. A dedicated app allows crew members to check and maintain the turbocharger wherever and whenever needed, without the need for special tools or for taking the vessel out of service. The focus on ease of service means that MXP delivers significant reductions in lifecycle costs while meeting Daihatsu Infinearth’s rigorous standards for performance and build quality. Accelleron’s MXP turbocharger was specifically designed for auxiliary marine engines. It is easy for crew to maintain. For operators who prefer a conventional approach, service can also be carried out through Accelleron’s network following established procedures, offering flexibility to meet different customer preferences. Bulk carrier uptake Daihatsu Infinearth manufactures more than 400 6DE18 engines a year, with the engine widely adopted on bulk carriers built at global shipyards. Acceptance for the MXP300 turbocharger means that Accelleron is well placed to benefit from the current growth in the sector. Before the approval of the 6DE18, the MXP300 had been certified in 2024 for use with Daihatsu Infinearth’s dual fuel/LNG engine 6DE20DF.
